Jacob's Baptism

Jacob was baptised this past Saturday, 10/24, at St. Alphonsus Church by his great Uncle (Friar) Arturo and his great Uncle (deacon) Joe. The Ocampo family has a long history with St. Alphonsus parish, which is located on the West side of San Antonio. Jacob's great grandma Eva Rivera Ocampo lived just one block from the church, and she attended school there at age 7. Eva celebrated her First Holy Communion, Confirmation, and then Marriage to Socorro Ocampo over 60 years ago at St. Alphonsus. Jacob's great uncle Art was also baptised at this church. Until about 5 years ago uncle Art was the parish priest for several years, and during his time with the church he lead fund-raising efforts to restore the church. He even donated his time to bake cookies every week.
Jacob's Great Grandma Eva, Grandma Elsa, Cousin Jonas, and Aunt Sonia, and Tia Anna.

Jacob's uncle Armando and aunt Anna drove up from Reynosa, Mexico. They brought Jacob's cousin Antonio and Jacob's grandparents. Jacob in his elegant baptism outfit, hand delivered from Mexico by his godparents:
Jacob, 3 1/2 months, fit just right into his 12 month sized outfit.

Jacob Manuel Mejia was accompanied in baptism by his one-month old 3rd cousin, Christopher Jacob Rivera.

Jacob and his primo Antonio were exhausted after a long day, and they both fell asleep at 5 p.m. Antonio was out for the night, but Jacob woke for one more meal.
